Graphic Designer Q & A : Tanya Heath

Meet Beautiful Tanya, Our Extremely Talented and Kind-Hearted Graphic Designer Who Dedicated her Design Services to Work on the Book for Tickner Publishing. Thank You So Very Much Tanya for All You Have Done – The Book is As Special As it Is, Because of You.

1.    How have you enjoyed being a part of the creative process for the production of Flutterby Baby, Forever in Our Hearts?

It was a lovely honour having Rachael approach me to be the graphic designer for this heartfelt project. I’ve enjoyed seeing the whole journey of this book right from concept to finish.

2. You have been so very kind to donate your time for the project to the charity – The Pink Elephants Support Network. A very big thank you. You are so kind and generous to have done that. What are your thoughts on the charity and the amazing work that they do?

Never having to go through a pregnancy loss, the charity wasn’t a charity I was familiar with. I’m so very thankful for working on this book which made me so much more aware of the tremendous support The Pink Elephants Support Network provides.

3. How long have you been a designer for? Tell us more about your professional and creative background?

I’ve been a graphic designer since 1998. I’ve worked across the board for design agencies, a designer for retail and for not-for-profit organisations. Also I enjoy working freelance.

4. You have this year founded your own art and creative company with your business, Tan Art Creations. We would love to learn more about your passion for creating stunning resin pieces that last a lifetime – please tell us more about your gorgeous artwork creations?

With all of the pieces that you have created so far, do you have a stand out piece that really comes to mind and one which you are incredibly proud of or that holds a very special meaning to you? I’ve always been a crafty one. Since a child, creating and making handmade gifts for parents, family and friends. It’s definitely part of my DNA. I cannot – not create! After participating in a workshop, I fell in love with the resin medium. I love there’s so many colours, and love how unpredictable resin can be and how it forms, cells open up, layers lay, and by the time it finishes moving, finds it’s place to settle and set, and something amazing is created! My stand-out resin pieces would have to be the Coolum Series. I was commissioned to work on 10 art works for new boutique hotel/motel accommodation in Coolum

4. With the book being such a sensitive subject, helping women through miscarriage and loss, what would you say to anyone who might be considering buying the gift book for a loved one?

You may not always have the words to articulate what you are feeling, to help your loved one, giving this book that already covers a range of topics and where the receiver can read in their own time. In my personal opinion, it really is another beautiful gift giving option.

6. Do you have a favourite part of the book? A special page that really resonated with yourself?

Practising Self-Love is a stand out page for me. It’s so very important to be kind to yourself and know your self-worth. This is a practise that requires a lot more attention when going through a tremendous loss, but it’s also a practise everyone can be present with every single day.

7. You have known Rachael now for over 7 years, and you were there for her when she went through the losses as a dear friend and colleague. How did you support her through this time? We know that Rachael is forever grateful for all of your support, especially now with helping to have brought this book to life to make a difference and to help give back.

I have a lovely connection with Rachael and I feel this has been expressed through helping Rachael achieve her goals to produce this wonderful book, Flutterby Baby, Forever in Our Hearts. I think a major quality and contribution that I gave in the times of need with her journey, was just being there to listen, not to judge, being patient and giving love and support when ever it was needed.

8. Many women have been through the loss of a Flutterby Baby. Do you agree that the more women talk about their miscarriage/loss journey, the more awareness, which will hopefully be raised and it will help break the taboo culture around miscarriage loss and post natal anxiety, etc?

I’m so proud of Rachael for talking about her journey because it’s definitely made me more aware of the support networks available and the charity, Pink Elephants Support that are out there for families. If being open about her experiences can make one person aware, then she will touch so many more.

9. The gratitude journal is a part of the book that has been created to help women write down their thoughts, medical information or specialist information for their doctor or psychologist, a space to write a poem for their little Flutterby Baby, do you believe it will be a very helpful part of the book for women to reflect on their journey of loss after reading the comforting words of support?

The journalling pages are a wonderful aspect of the book. Rachael has truly thought of every detail in making this gift book personalised and unique. I know Rach found journalling a great practise to help heal and work through complicated emotions and assisted with navigating through her mixed feelings and tough times during her journey of loss.

10. Talk us through how you all came together to best design the book and make the book the wonderful creation that it is today. How did you all work together to achieve the beautiful book that will hopefully be so comforting to mums going through their very tough and emotional time?

It sounds like it was a labour of love. Many creatives working together for an overall goal. All of the elements appear to have come together perfectly. The book itself is finished so beautifully, from the calligraphy, through to the perfect size and hard-cover.

A very big thank you for being a part of our guest creative blog post. We are so very thankful for all of your support. This book being published, would not have been possible without your love and support.
