Pink Bubbles Event for The Pink Elephants Support Network

Such a Beautiful Event. Hosted in Sydney at Royal Oak Hotel.

Sunday, October 13th was a beautiful day being a fellow guest at the annual Pink Bubbles event for Pink Elephants Support Network.

The day was one which I’m so glad that I attended.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet the founders of The Pink Elephants Support Network. Both Samantha Payne and Gabbi Armstrong made me feel so very welcome. As did all of the women in attendance.

The event was held at The Royal Oak Hotel and the room was abuzz with love and light of women who had been brought together with one thing in common – we all knew what it feels like to have lost a little baby.

One of four pregnancies sadly end in miscarriage and often it is early miscarriage, in the first trimester. I am one in four, as are many other women who I have met on my journey to parenthood and motherhood.

I was honoured to take my latest proof copy of the book to Sydney to show the ladies, before we go to print with our final version of the book. In just a few short weeks, the books will be available to purchase, both online here, and throughout our distribution platforms, of The Pink Elephants Support Network charity website, as well as through our newest stockiest, in our author’s, Rachael’s home town of Maroochydore where she grew up after emigrating from the United Kingdom.

At the event, Libby Trickett, one of the country’s most inspiring Olympians spoke.

“Libby was truly an incredible guest speaker. She was so warm and down to earth. She felt just like all of the other mums in the room. Libby was truly relatable in every way and shared her experience with miscarriage with us all. I shed some tears listening to her story, but I also found great strength from her words also. Libby like myself has suffered gestational hypertension and when it came to my book signing, I was able to speak to her about that also,” Rachael said.

The other ladies on the panel were incredibly inspiring also. From Leigh Campbell of Mamamia, through to the wonderful MC, Edwina Bartholomew, and Tahyna MacManus, as well as Pink Elephants Ambassador, Maggi McDonald.

The Bottomless Brunch fundraiser was a wonderful way to spend a beautiful Sunday in Sydney. I flew down to Sydney on the 6:55am flight and was back home in sunny Queensland by 4:30pm on the dot, gotta love daylight savings!

I took home my very own Circle of Support t-shirt which I know will be a staple in my wardrobe. I also loved supporting the raffle on the day and it was such an honour to purchase a Circle of Support Cherry Blossom Tree wishing card of love and support. I wrote a message of support to all mums before and after me.

One thing about having a miscarriage, is that at the time you feel very alone. Like no one in the world can ever understanding what yourself and your partner are going through. But thankfully, there is light at the end of the tunnel. You do learn to breathe again, but you are forever changed. It’s comforting to know that your babies will always watch over you.

Flutterby Baby Book, Forever in Our Hearts has been written from the heart, by mum of two boys, Rachael Tickner. She shares her personal experience and the gift book provides comforting words of support to those going through loss.

A special gratitude journal allows mums who have been through the loss of their little one, to write down any words or thoughts that they might have. Perhaps it’s a little poem for their Flutterby Baby in heaven. Or it might be some professional support details, such as their doctor or a psychologist.

Flutterby Baby is a book that also supports charity. $5 from every book sold will be donated to The Pink Elephants Support Network. Thank you so much for supporting our book. We hope that it provides comfort to the reader and gift recipient.
